One of the greatest summer time sweet treats is this Strawberries and Cream combination ready in just 10 minutes! A no cook, 4-ingredient recipe that elevates a summer favorite fruit to a dessert that's fit to be served at great occasions (Wimbledon, for example!).
Summer is definitely the time to pull out those no bake/no-cook recipes (like this pasta with no-cook sauce). And what better time to make a no cook dessert than when so many fruits are in season! All kinds of berries flood the farmers stands during summer and strawberries can easily take the crown of being the most popular ones.
Strawberries and cream clearly take the center court during summer due to Wimbledon, where "Wimbledon Strawberries and Cream have been served since the start of the tournament.
Going strawberry picking has kind of become a family tradition in the past few years and then I try to put all those juicy to good use. Salads are another great way to use up all that fresh summer produce without turning the stove on and still enjoying something that is deeply satisfying like this summer strawberry salad. Just like the salad, this recipe of strawberries and cream is super simple and very refreshing.

Ingredients
The ingredients for this recipe are literally in the name - Strawberries and Cream. It's not really a recipe if you ask but more of a direction. Traditionally the Wimbledon Strawberries and Cream are served as such. Sweet, fresh, plump, red, most juicy, in-season summer strawberries dunked in heavy cream. I always sweeten the heavy cream and whip it a little to go with the preference of my family. So that's what is presented here!
- Fresh Strawberries
- Heavy Cream
- Confectioner's Sugar
- Good quality Vanilla extract
See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
Substitutions
If you want to make this recipe vegan, you can replace heavy cream with coconut cream to make coconut whipped cream. Here's how to do it:
- Coconut cream - use 1 can coconut cream that has been chilled
- Confectioner's or Powdered Sugar - use about ½ cup
- Vanilla - ½ teaspoon of good quality pure vanilla extract is all you need.
Whip the chilled coconut cream in a chilled mixing bowl for about 30 seconds (in a stand mixer). Then add vanilla and powdered sugar and mix until smooth and firm, about 1 minute.
Variations
Like I mentioned earlier, sweetening the whipping cream is a personal choice and not traditional for Wimbledon Strawberries and Cream so you can definitely make it sugar free. Same is the case with whipping the cream or not.
Instructions for making Strawberries and Cream
There is a lot of flexibility in this recipe of Strawberries and cream. Hull the strawberries so that you can serve them in a cup of cream or leave the greens on with the cream served on the side for a more rustic look and feel.
For the sweet whipped cream, you will take chilled heavy cream preferably in a chilled bowl and whip it with sugar and vanilla until firm. Be careful not to over-whip it.
Wash and dry the strawberries.
Hull the strawberries (optional). I like using a straw to do this.
Whip heavy cream with some sugar and vanilla and serve with sliced or whole strawberries.
Recipe FAQs
I would highly recommend enjoying this fresh. The whipped cream is going to deflate and loose it's freshness if you store it. So make a batch and delve right in!
Don't over whip the cream! We don't want any stiff peaks here - just a slightly firm consistency (see the pictures of cream served with the strawberries).
Eating various berries—beyond just strawberries—has been linked to lower risks of stuff like heart issues and type 2 diabetes. And as for cream, it packs protein, saturated fat, calcium, plus vitamins A and D.
