The easiest dessert that you will ever make, this blueberry cobbler recipe uses ingredients that you likely already have in your house. So grab them and get ready to wow your family and friends!
Aaah..berry season is here! Summers bring beautiful and yummilicious berries to the grocery stores and local farmer’s markets - very pretty looking strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and more. Though our favorite part of consuming berries is just to eat them straight or in smoothies but this blueberry cobbler recipe is pretty much on top of the list for berry dishes. These Baked Blueberry Donuts and strawberry muffins are pretty legit as well!

Ingredients
This is the simplest dessert recipe to remember. I call it the 1-1-1-1 recipe and you will see why. And the recipe also happens to be egg-less!
- Self rising flour (see recipe notes if you don’t have self-rising flour)
- Butter
- Milk
- Sugar
- Blueberries
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Get your oven preheated to 350 degrees F/ 180 degrees C. Grease your baking dish with butter and set aside. Melt 1 stick of butter in the microwave in a deep mixing bowl. To the same bowl, add the self rising flour, sugar, and milk. Whisk everything together till completely mixed and smooth. Pour the mixed cobbler batter into your greased baking dish and sprinkle with blueberries – as many as you like. Sprinkle the coarse sugar on top and place it in the preheated oven. Bake until golden brown. That's it!
Hint: Be careful while you melt butter in the microwave. Sometimes the butter “bursts” in the microwave and the clean up is not pretty. I would suggest start with 30 seconds and then go on in 10 second increments till the butter is melted.
Substitutions
This easy cobbler is very versatile – switch up blueberries for your favorite berries – blackberries or raspberries. Strawberries have a little bit different texture profile so I won’t use the exact same recipe for strawberry cobbler, but feel free to switch up with other berries of your liking. Peach cobbler, on the other hand has a different approach and method and you can find my Easy Peach Cobbler Recipe here.
Serving Suggestion
Serve up the cobbler warm with some vanilla bean ice cream or fresh whipped cream and get ready for being transported to a world of luscious sweet fruity goodness.
Recipe FAQs
Generally speaking, flour, sugar and butter are the key ingredients of a topping. In this Blueberry Cobbler Recipe we make more of a cobbler "batter" with milk added and it works great!
Absolutely! I usually have the cobbler ingredients mixed and ready to before dinner or before the guests arrive and then stick in the oven during dinner. By dessert time, warm Blueberry Cobbler is ready!
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. I recommend heating a slice in a toaster oven.

I've been baking for too many years and don't remember a recipe that doesn't mention pan size. I know I can figure it out when I've made the batter, but for those that haven't been baking for 60 years, please advise. 8 servings is vague, also. Depends on those served.
Vaishali
Hi Kat. Thanks for your message and I completely agree with you. The pan size is given in the recipe card. It's a 8 by 8 in pan. I hope this helps.

Wednesday, January 10, 2024 I made the Blueberry Cobbler this morning. It is delicious or was its gone now. It needed a little something to finish it. I did not have the sugar to put on top and I forgot to buy heavy cream for whipped cream, so when I served it, I put a little French Vanilla coffee creamer at the bottom of the bowl. Instant Winner! Thanks so much, I love your site. nancy, palm harbor, fl
